Patna: The state sports department has started the process to recruit 1,006 officials, coaches and staff to strengthen sports infrastructure, training and administration across the state.The recruitment drive includes 33 district sports officers, 380 coaches for stadiums, 48 coaches for the Rajgir State Sports Academy, 301 posts in the Bihar State Sports Authority and 244 posts in Bihar Sports University.Sports minister Shreyasi Singh said Bihar had no shortage of sporting talent and needed better training, modern facilities and adequate manpower to help athletes perform better.“Our goal is for athletes to receive world-class training and facilities within the state and bring glory to Bihar in national and international competitions,” she said.Officials said recruitment for 301 posts in the Bihar State Sports Authority and 244 posts in Bihar Sports University was underway. The appointments are expected to strengthen sports administration, education, training and institutional activities.The department is also planning to appoint clerical staff on contract and depute personnel wherever required to ensure smooth functioning of its units.The appointment process for district sports officers has reached the final stage. The Bihar Public Service Commission has conducted the examination and interviews are awaited. Once appointed, the officers will identify sporting talent, organise competitions and training programmes and implement departmental schemes at the district level.The department is also preparing to recruit 380 coaches through the Bihar Staff Selection Commission. The coaches will be deployed at indoor and outdoor stadiums being developed across the state. Officials said the aim was to turn these facilities into regular training centres instead of using them only as venues for competitions.At the Rajgir State Sports Academy, 48 coaches will be appointed to provide athletes with high-performance training and scientific support. The appointments are aimed at making effective use of the modern sports facilities being developed at Rajgir and preparing athletes for national and international events.
