Jamshedpur: Three members of a family, including a 12-year-old boy, were allegedly hacked to death with an axe over a long-standing land dispute at Torabburu village in West Singhbhum district, police said on Friday.The victims were identified as Rajin Doraiburu, 40, his wife Jano, 38, and their son Kande. The killings took place on Aug 21 but came to light five days later after Rajin’s elder son, Ramia Doraiburu, lodged a complaint.Police said Rajin and Kande were buried on the premises of their house, while Jano’s body was buried in a nearby forest.A special investigation team, headed by Jagannathpur SDPO Raphale Murmu, was formed to investigate the case. Acting on specific information, police apprehended Bonj Doraiburu, 19, and Muchia Doraiburu, 20, both residents of Torabburu, on Thursday.

During interrogation, the two allegedly confessed to killing the family over the land dispute, Murmu said. Based on their statements, police recovered the three bodies and seized the bloodstained axe allegedly used in the crime.The accused are being produced before a court. Police are examining documents and rival claims related to the disputed land to ascertain the immediate trigger and determine whether more people were involved.
