Hazaribag: A 26-year-old teacher of a private school was killed and her friend injured after a trailer allegedly hit their scooter near Ichak More in Hazaribag on Monday night.The deceased, identified as Sonali Lata, was returning to Hazaribag from Ichak with her friend, Lucky, around 9 pm when their scooter came under the wheels of the trailer. Sonali suffered critical injuries and died on the spot, while Lucky sustained injuries and was admitted to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital for treatment.Police said the trailer driver fled the scene after the accident. Acting on information, an Ichak police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it in the Korra police station area. The trailer involved in the accident was later found parked near the Nagwan toll plaza.Ichak police station officer in charge Gautam Kumar said police have seized the trailer and apprehended its driver. “We are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident,” he said.Originally from Dhanbad, Sonali was living in rented accommodation in Hazaribag and worked as a teacher here at one of the city’s prominent educational institutions.
