Chennai: Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday brought to the attention of assembly speaker J C D Prabhakar that video clips containing remarks by members which were expunged from assembly records are being circulated on social media.Flagging the issue, Udhayanidhi asked what was the use of expunging the remarks when they go viral on social media. Since the assembly proceedings are telecast live, the clippings are circulated in social media as reels, he said.Prabhakar acknowledged the point made by Udhayanidhi. He said the DMK has also given a petition along with material evidence that certain media houses aired the remarks even after they were expunged, and moved a privilege motion. The issue would be taken into consideration, Prabhakar said.Shortly after this, another heated debate broke out due to a remark made by minister for electricity Nirmalkumar against former minister V Senthilbhalaji.Udhayanidhi called Nirmalkumar “Sanghi minister”, while Nirmalkumar retorted alleging that the Leader of Opposition was sitting on the restroom for three hours when police visited his house to arrest him for the remarks linking the CM to an actor. Rebutting, Udhayanidhi questioned whether the TVK govt had any ministers to check duration spent by people in restrooms. The Speaker doused the situation after requesting members from both sides to exercise restraint.
