Women’s reservation demand: Congress rallies for women’s reservation law; BJP accuses them of misleading the public

Dhanbad/Ranchi: Congress workers in Ranchi and Dhanbad on Tuesday sought an immediate implementation of the women’s reservation law, which was passed by the Parliament in 2023, as the Grand Old Party and the BJP leadership traded blows at each other over the recent amendment bill which fail to pass in Lok Sabha.Congress workers burnt effigies of PM Narendra Modi at Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad and other parts of the state. Dhanbad district women Congress president Sita Rana said “The Union govt is deliberately delaying its enforcement under the pretext of conducting a census and delimitation exercise. The govt is avoiding the issue despite legislative approval. Rather, it is playing politics over the incident,” Rana said. She further said the delay in the Act’s implementation is depriving women of their rightful participation in governance and decision-making processes.The demonstrators warned that protests would intensify if the govt failed to act at the earliest.The BJP on the other hand accused the Congress of duping the women of the country and announced that it will take out Aakrosh rally in Ranchi on April 25.State BJP president Aditya Sahu said, “Congress and its allies have got exposed the way they prevent passage of The Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill to make way for women’s reservation during the recently concluded session of the Parliament. On April 25, party workers will hit to streets to expose them further among the public.”
