New Delhi: The service on a small stretch between Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk metro stations on Yellow Line was impacted for over four hours by a signalling issue Monday, causing inconvenience to commuters. As the Metro ran at a restricted speed, commuters claimed that there was a cascading effect on other sections of the line.Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on X at 10.20 am said there was a delay in train services on Yellow Line between Rajiv Chowk and Patel Chowk metro stations due to a signalling issue. DMRC at 2.42 pm said normal services resumed on the line. Sanjay Singh, a commuter who boarded the metro from Hauz Khas to Central Secretariat, said the train was moving slower than usual.Several commuters took to social media to complain about the delay. A commuter said his 20-minute ride turned into an hour-long journey. Another commuter, Rashmi, said, “My half-day salary has already been deducted. Now who’s gonna pay for that?”In March, train services on the new 9.9-km Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch on Magenta Line were impacted after 1,000 metres of signalling cables were stolen before the start of service. Police arrested one of the suspects at the spot.
