NEW DELHI: Union textiles minister and Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh has received a death threat through a letter sent by post, prompting police to register an FIR, officials said on Monday.The anonymous letter was received on Thursday at the address of Singh’s office in New Delhi, news agency PTI reported.The letter contained the threat message, “You will be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists”, along with two mobile phone numbers, police said.Singh was informed about the matter by his private secretary and subsequently asked the Begusarai Town police station to register a case, officials said.Nagar police station SHO Satish Kumar Himanshu had earlier confirmed the incident, PTI reported.Investigators are now trying to trace the origin of the letter and ascertain the motive behind the threat, they added.

The development comes days after Union minister Chirag Paswan received a death threat through a letter warning that he would be killed by “hardcore terrorists”.Police had registered a case and launched a probe to identify the sender and establish the motive behind the threat.(With agency inputs)
