Ranchi: Health minister Irfan Ansari on Thursday announced that the ‘Blindfolded Run for Vision 2026’ campaign will be held in Aug to spread awareness about eye donation in the state. The campaign will be organised by Eye Donation Awareness Club, Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank and the Jharkhand chapter of National Health Mission, he said.Ansari said that Run for Vision was organised for the past 20 years to spread awareness about eye donation. “This year too, on Aug 30, the run will be organised in Ranchi, where chief minister Hemant Soren will be invited as chief guest, while former India cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin will be invited as guest of honour,” Ansari said.The participants in the running event are blindfolded for a short duration, enabling them to experience the challenges visually impaired individuals face, he said, adding, “This not only raises awareness in society but also deepens people’s sensitivity towards visually impaired individuals.”
