New Delhi: While the city experienced sultry weather conditions with only very light rain in isolated areas Thursday, IMD has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain for Friday and Saturday.As opposed to 31.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier, the maximum temperature rose to 34.9 degrees Celsius Thursday, one degree above normal as the heat index, or the “feels-like” temperature, reflected 46.8 degrees Celsius at 2.30 pm.Safdarjung, the city’s base station, did not receive any rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. However, Jharoda Kalan logged 9.5 mm, Jafarpur 2.5 mm, Najafgarh 1 mm, Pusa 0.5 mm and Palam trace rainfall during the same period.“Multiple spells of light rain at most places and moderate rain at isolated areas are expected Friday and Saturday. There is a possibility of very light rain. However, rain is unlikely Monday to Wednesday,” said a Met official.Due to rain and overcast skies, the maximum temperature is forecast to dip to 31-33 degrees Celsius Friday and nearly 30-32 degrees Celsius Saturday.The minimum temperature was reported at 27 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. It is likely to stay between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius Friday.Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained “satisfactory” with an AQI reading of 74.
