NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has hit back at what he described as “constant attempts” to discredit the outfit, saying the party would rather focus on the issues facing young people than engage in fights with critics. In a post on X, Dipke said the youth was already frustrated with established political parties and their internal “bickering”.“I have a lot to say about the constant attempts by some to discredit CJP, but honestly, there’s no point,” Dipke said.He said the younger generation was frustrated with what he described as infighting among established political parties, alleging that political groups were more concerned about their own prominence than the people they claimed to represent.“The youth is already frustrated with exactly this kind of bickering among established political parties, where everyone seems more concerned about their own prominence than the people they claim to represent,” he said.
Dipke says CJP will focus on youth issues
Dipke described the formation of CJP as an “accident” that eventually gave hope to millions.“The formation of CJP was one big accident which ended up giving hope to millions. Fighting for those youth and the issues they face is far more important than wasting our energy fighting with those who have already decided to discredit us, no matter what we do,” he said. His remarks came after CJP stepped up its agitation seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party held a major protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday, thousands gathered despite police denying permission for the event.
October 10 Jantar Mantar protest
After the Mumbai protest, Dipke announced another demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign.“If Gyanesh Kumar doesn’t resign, cockroaches from across India will march to Delhi & protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10,” Dipke said in an X post, describing the proposed agitation as peaceful and calling on citizens who want free and fair elections to join. The CJP has been demanding Kumar’s resignation and has raised allegations concerning electoral-roll revisions and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The allegations made by the organisation have not been independently verified.CJP, critics trade barbs amid election-roll protestThe latest remarks also come amid a war of words between CJP and its critics. CJP co-conveners Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das recently hit out at what they called a “self-declared liberal” ecosystem for criticising Dipke and the party.Meanwhile, protests against Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi have also seen hundreds of demonstrators detained as protesters attempted to reach Jantar Mantar.Dipke has now said the party’s focus would remain on issues concerning young people rather than on those seeking to discredit it.
