Ranchi/Daltonganj: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday raided 18 locations across Jharkhand over its ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities in the examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), officials said. Former JPSC chairman L Khiyangte was questioned by CID for seven hours in the case.The searches were conducted in Ranchi, Palamu, Hazaribag, Bokaro and Dhanbad districts, aided by local police. CID said documents, laptops, mobile phones, passbooks and cheque books of various banks, carbon copies of OMR sheets of several candidates, admit cards, mark-sheets and other articles were recovered.In Palamu district, CID teams raided three locations in Daltonganj. The searches began around 3 am and continued for nearly five hours at Hanuman Nagar, near BN College under Daltonganj town police station, and at Naudeeha bazaar under Chhaterpur police subdivision. Police sources said one target was a govt teacher, while another was deeply involved in the education business.Daltonganj Sadar sub-divisional police officer Rajesh Yadav said, “CID sleuths have seized documents and devices which at first sight should not have been in the houses of the targets. But the presence of documents and devices deepened the suspicion of foul play on the part of the two targets.” He declined to share target-wise seizure details.CID also sought candidature details of Abhay Tiwari, a key accused, from agencies that conducted examinations he cleared over the years. It said Tiwari qualified in written examinations for sub-inspector in 2018, navy in 2013, assistant in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Indian Reserve Battalion in 2014, and CRPF head constable in 2018.“Tiwari also cleared preliminary examinations of Northern Coalfields Limited in 2014, assistant conservator of forest, forest range officer, food supply officer and the 11th to 13th Jharkhand Combined Civil Service Examination,” CID said. Agencies have been asked to submit application forms, evaluation records and selection-process details.
