Former RJD MP, others join BJP

Patna: Former RJD MP Arjun Rai joined the BJP on Monday, a day after resigning from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Rai, who was once associated with Sharad Yadav’s camp, was inducted into the party by BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi. Congress neta Vimal Shukla and former Bankipur assembly candidate Sikandar Kumar Kushwaha also joined the BJP.Welcoming the new entrants, Saraogi said netas from other parties were joining the BJP because of its policies, principles and the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and CM Samrat Choudhary.After joining the BJP, Rai said the party worked with the vision of an “Akhand Bharat” and had a nationwide presence. He credited PM Modi with strengthening national unity through the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir.Rai also praised the CM for pursuing development-oriented politics. He said the situation within the RJD was not conducive to contributing effectively to Bihar’s development and that the party was unable to play a constructive role in the state’s progress.
