Patna: State prohibition and excise minister Madan Sahani on Thursday objected to the transfer of deputy SP Rajesh Kumar Sharma to the Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau, Patna, saying the officer should not have been given a new posting while a judicial inquiry into an alleged encounter was underway.Sharma was removed as Jagdishpur sub-divisional police officer after being named as an accused in the alleged encounter killing of Bharat Tiwari last month.Speaking to the reporters, Sahani said Sharma should have remained at police headquarters until the inquiry was completed. “This was his personal opinion that the concerned official should have been stationed only at the headquarters until the investigation was completed,” the minister said.He, however, clarified that the transfer and posting of officers fall within the discretion of CM Samrat Choudhary. “There was no need to seek his opinion for this,” he said.Sahani said a judicial inquiry had already been ordered into the incident and the probe was underway.Asked whether the encounter was genuine or fake, the minister said it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions before the inquiry was completed.“As regards the encounter, I cannot say whether it was fake or true, but an inquiry commission has been been formed. Only after an impartial investigation will the govt take appropriate action based on the facts,” he said.
