Times News Network| VishvenduChatra: Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and seized 2.5 kg of opium estimated to be worth around Rs 13 lakh from the Sirkol area under Pathalgadda police station limits in Chatra. The accused has been identified as Manish Munda, a resident of Barkitand Khaira village in Pathalgadda. Police also seized a bike allegedly used for transporting the contraband.Simaria SDPO Nagar Goje Shubham Bhausaheb said that police had received a tip-off about a person carrying an opium consignment from Pathalgadda towards Giddhaur block. “A raid team was formed and vehicle checking was launched in Sirkol area. During the checking, police intercepted a motorcycle rider on suspicion. A search led to the recovery,” he said.The accused is being questioned to ascertain the source of the consignment and the intended recipient, he added.
