Bokaro: Plainclothes police personnel will be stationed at strategic locations across Giridih as the district administration steps up security for Shravani Mela. The personnel will monitor suspicious activities, deter crime and help ensure the safe movement of kanwariyas.The security preparations, ordered by SP Bimal Kumar at a crime review meeting on Saturday, will focus on pilgrimage routes and major Shiva temples expecting heavy footfall. Officers have been directed to strengthen patrolling, regulate crowds and draw up traffic diversions for congested stretches.“A comprehensive security plan has been implemented to ensure the safe and smooth movement of kanwariyas. The plan will focus on enhanced security along pilgrimage routes and crowd management at major Shiva temples,” the SP said.Police units have been asked to coordinate closely and remain prepared for any law-and-order situation. Security arrangements will be reviewed regularly to identify and plug gaps in sensitive and crowded areas.At the meeting, the SP also reviewed pending cases, technical investigations and the district’s overall law and order. Senior field officers and police station in-charges were told to complete investigations within stipulated timelines without compromising quality.Reiterating zero tolerance for crimes against women, the SP ordered swift action against accused persons. Officers were also instructed to execute pending warrants and attachment orders, expedite passport and character verification cases, and intensify night patrolling.Special drives will target habitual offenders, wanted persons and anti-social elements. The SP also stressed prompt grievance redressal and courteous, public-friendly policing throughout the festival.
