Chennai: Four men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 32-year-old man involved in a narcotics case shortly after his release on bail from Puzhal Central Prison this Saturday. The victim, Satish Kumar of Island Grounds, was intercepted by a group outside the jail premises.He was forced into a vehicle and driven toward Red Hills, where the suspects reportedly held him at knifepoint. Investigators said the group demanded a portion of his drug trade earnings and issued death threats if he failed to comply. Satish managed to flee and lodged a complaint at the Puzhal police station. Later, the suspects were traced and taken into custody. Those arrested were identified as Vinoth, Balaji, Thenmozhi, 55, and Mohana, 35.

Police said Satish had a rivalry with brothers Vinoth, 35, and Balaji, 33, of Triplicane, who had also been arrested in drug trafficking cases and lodged in Puzhal prison. The dispute had led to frequent quarrels between them even while they were in prison.Balaji was released on bail last week, while Vinoth and Satish were released on Saturday. Vinoth’s mother, sister and brother had arrived in a car to pick him up from prison when the group abducted Satish. Puzhal police have registered a kidnapping case and are investigating
