Yogi & Himanta attack TMC over ‘infiltration’, ‘mafia raj’

Kolkata: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma led a coordinated BJP attack on the Trinamool govt on Thursday, alleging that Bengal was “nurturing infiltrators” and had surrendered to “mafia raj”.Addressing a rally in Phansidewa, Darjeeling, Sarma said Bengal needed to seal its borders the way Assam and Tripura had to ensure zero infiltration.“The infiltrators from Bangladesh are eating into your resources every day. If we fail to push them back this time, Bengal will not remain safe for our children,” he said.He also alleged that mosques were being erected freely in Bengal under Mamata Banerjee’s patronage, contrasting it with other BJP-governed states.Adityanath, speaking at rallies in East Burdwan and Rampurhat, drew parallels between present-day Bengal and Uttar Pradesh nine years ago.“The atmosphere of fear, riots, mafia reign and corruption you see here — such a dire situation prevailed in UP nine years ago as well. Festivals could not be held, women were unsafe and the mafia had a free run,” he said, claiming a BJP govt had since transformed the state. He urged Bengal voters not to bow to “mafia, goons or clerics” and alleged that Trinamool had allowed central funds meant for Bengal’s citizens to be diverted to “intruders”.“People of Bengal have faced an identity crisis for 15 years. The state has turned into a hub of terror, mafia raj and corruption,” he said.
