Dumka: Godda police on Friday arrested two sisters for allegedly killing a 16-year-old boy and abandoning his body near a bridge in Mahagama police station area.The victim, identified as Suraj Kumar Rai of Tardiha village in Godda district’s Pathargama police station area, was allegedly killed on Aug 9. His body was found near Gaurikita-Raghunathpur the following day.On the directions of Godda SP, a special investigation team led by Mahagama SDPO Varun Rajak was formed to probe the case.The arrested women were identified as Meela Devi (34) of Milki village in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district, and Sugni Devi (30) of Godia village in Mahagama police station area.Police claimed the women admitted their involvement during questioning. Investigators alleged that Suraj and Sugni were having an extramarital affair, but she had stopped meeting or speaking to him a few months ago. Suraj, however, allegedly continued trying to meet her.According to police, Suraj visited Sugni’s house on Aug 9, where she allegedly killed him with Meela’s help. The two sisters then purportedly carried his body to the bridge area at night and abandoned it there.“The case was detected through a combination of human intelligence and technical evidence. The arrested accused disclosed their involvement, and important material evidence was recovered at their instance. Further scientific and technical investigation is underway,” Rajak said.Police recovered Suraj’s mobile phone and slippers, as well as a gamcha allegedly used in the crime. The items have been sent for forensic examination.
