Kolkata: Jadavpur University (JU) has postponed the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) supplementary examinations scheduled on Friday afternoon following campus unrest and palpable fear among students.FET students on Thursday requested authorities to postpone the exam citing tension on the campus and a sense of fear among students.Pro-VC Amitava Datta in an email to the controller of examination section wrote, “Considering the situation in the university that was there in the afternoon today and the request from the students of FET as in the attached letter, I would like you to postpone the examination in the second half tomorrow, Aug 21, 2026, and reschedule it on a suitable date as early as possible.” He also wrote that the step was taken with the consent of VC.Production engineering student Baidik Bhowmick said, “We requested pro-VC on Thursday to reschedule the supplementary exams as students are in fear after two days of vandalism by ABVP supporters. There is a tension on campus.” JUTA member Parthapratim Biswas said, “Many students didn’t come on Thursday out of fear. They urged authorities and teachers to postpone the exam. So, considering the tension on campus, the exam was postponed.”ABRSM secretary Bhaskar Sardar said, “The authorities postponed the exam to facilitate protests and rallies by left and naxals.”
