Ranchi: Congress and BJP workers on Thursday accused each other of stone-pelting during protests in the city over the NEET paper leak row.A day after the BJP’s youth wing gheraoed the Congress headquarters, Congress workers marched towards the BJP state headquarters in Harmu to protest the alleged paper leak.Workers of both parties raised slogans against each other, following which eggs and stones were allegedly hurled from both sides.Following the incident, functionaries of both parties filed written complaints at Argora police station.“We were protesting peacefully, but BJP workers, allegedly instigated by state president Aditya Kumar Sahu and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, hurled eggs, water-filled bottles, glass bottles, cans and stones at us with the intention of injuring us,” said Kumar Raja, Congress’s Ranchi city president.“Many workers and journalists were injured in the attack. We have appealed to the police to take legal action against those responsible,” Raja said.In his complaint, BJP Ranchi city president Varun Kumar alleged that thousands of Congress workers attacked the BJP state office with sticks, rods and stones.He accused more than 50 Congress functionaries of assaulting BJP workers, attempting to kill them and snatching valuables. He claimed that hundreds of BJP workers were injured and were undergoing treatment.Argora police station in-charge Prateek Kumar said police were trying to identify those who allegedly hurled eggs from both sides. “The FIRs have not been registered yet, and we are trying to identify the perpetrators,” he added.Commuters heading towards Harmu faced inconvenience as the road was barricaded. The 200-metre stretch from Harmu Chowk to the BJP office was barricaded, forcing commuters to take detours through lanes and bylanes.
